Small businesses and nonprofits in Chula Vista have about two months starting Monday to get another round of Covid-19 relief funds from the city.
The $3.6 million City of Chula Vista Small Business and Nonprofit Assistance Fund is part of an effort to provide resources to help business owners and nonprofit leaders. The San Diego Foundation and the San Diego and Imperial Small Business Development Center Network are helping with the campaign.
Applications will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. Monday, October 27 until 5:00 p.m.
Details include:
- Grants for businesses are up to $10,000, while nonprofits can receive up to $100,000.
- To be eligible, must be in business prior to April 1, 2020.
- As has been the case for some covid aid programs, the grants are not the first. Applicants should focus on accuracy and completeness in early submissions.
- Small businesses should locate in Chula Vista. Charities must be located in the city or serve Chula Vista residents.
- To qualify, small businesses must have a net profit or gross income of less than $150,000.
Under $250,000 (as reported for 2019).
The application website lists the documents required to apply and more details about eligibility. It also guides employers on how to get help, with resources such as office hours, on-demand training and free SBDC appointments.
Chula Vista Mayor Mary Casillas Salas said at a news conference Friday that this is the second relief program the city has launched since the outbreak began. “I encourage our Chula Vista small businesses, home-based businesses and nonprofits to apply.”
