Vermont Business Magazine Members of Community Health Centers (CHC) and Community Health United (CHU), AFT Vermont have approved a new union contract. This new agreement is based on the contract with the professional staff, and now includes 168 support staff. would be –
- Raise the minimum starting wage to $20 an hour by August 2023
- Increase paid vacation time (including 15 days of paid parental leave)
- Increase employee input to improve orientation, training, health and safety
CHC CEO Jeff McKee was particularly proud of the collaborative negotiation process, but said both groups were “100 percent committed to patients and the organization’s mission, giving and ensuring that employees are at the heart of CHC as much as possible.” The long-term viability of our non-profit organization.
According to CHU President Andrea Salomon, a CHC physician assistant, “We provide quality medical, dental, mental health, case management and addiction recovery support to anyone in need. The salary improvements, paid time off and working conditions agreed upon in this contract will go a long way in recruiting and retaining the workforce we need to better serve our patients.
The parties were assisted by a mediator, FMCS commissioner Annie Rutsky. The newly ratified contract will be effective from February 4, 2023.
