Canada faces a call to shut down the ArriveCan app to reduce travel disruptions.

The Canadian government is reportedly being pressured to launch the ArriveCan app and deploy more staff to key airports across the country to stop flight delays and cancellations and other travel disruptions.

The app is designed to let travelers know their CVD-19 vaccine status and announce a quarantine plan if they are infected, the Canadian Press reports.

However, the app has taken some time to fill out the forms and has now been criticized by some for creating chaos at airports.

Mark Weber, president of the Canadian Customs and Immigration Union, attributed the turmoil at airports to overcrowding in technology and the ArriveCan application, in addition to the frontline staff shortage.

The news agency quoted Weber as saying, “What we are seeing, especially through customs, is that there is a long delay in clearing customs when passengers enter the country.”

He further said that the government should hire 2,000 to 3,000 front-line workers and hold various entry points across the country.

Requests on ArriveCan need to be adjusted to speed things up. He also said that the app should have a user-friendly interface for those who have no knowledge of technology.

Conservative transport critic Melissa Lantman said: “Conservatives continue to call for a return to pre-epidemic travel rules and staffing to address delays and misunderstandings at Canadian airports, including the mandatory termination of the ArriveCan application.

But Canadian Public Safety spokesman Marco Mendicino’s spokesman, Alexander Cohen, said the app would allow people to travel safely.

The company currently monitors ArriveCan’s operations, allowing travelers to digitally submit information before entering the country.

Cohen told the Canadian Press: “Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the world’s travel volume has increased by more than 700%, and airports around the world are being affected. From multiple flights to enough staff, there is no reason for these delays – but the ArriveCan app is not the main reason.
