College of Arts and Communication
College of Arts and Communication students were able to travel on study abroad trips this summer and enjoy learning experiences across the country and around the world.
BYU advertising students have had the opportunity to attend awards shows such as the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in Cannes, France, the Design and Art Direction Advertising Festival, and the New Blood Awards Gala in London, United Kingdom.
Professor Brian G. Smith traveled to Italy and Austria with Team os students to learn about social media and video production skills. They are also able to focus on spirituality and self-development.
“One group had a really unique experience — one of the guys at the facility wasn’t a member and had only been here for a few weeks,” Smith said. He was moved by the Spirit as our students shared the gospel message of peace and hope. He said he wanted to learn more.
BYU students focus on communications in New York City, Rome, Paris and London, among other European cities, in seven weeks with a focus on international diplomacy and journalism. The team visited the UNESCO World Headquarters and heard from senior diplomats and journalists.
Marriott Business School
The BYU Army and Air Force ROTC programs, hosted by the BYU Marriott School of Business, honored their graduating cadets in April and May of 2022. First, 13 graduating cadets enlisted as second lieutenants in the United States Air Force and two were recognized. The Army ceremony recognized 18 graduating cadets as second lieutenants in the United States Army.
The graduates took an oath to support and protect the Constitution and gave a fist salute at the new office.
Among the distinguished attendees at the event was retired General Ronald Fogleman, the 15th commander of the US Air Force who addressed the cadets during the ceremony.
“The biggest lesson I learned from the ROTC program is that leadership is about people,” said BYU Army ROTC and nursing graduate McKenna Brown. “The best way to do anything in life is to focus on the people we work with and strengthen our personal relationships. Leadership in the Army is exemplary in developing quality relationships. I have been able to become the best leader I can be through this program.”
