Chamber to host a business lunch

The Sanibel and Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce will hold its next luncheon on Aug. 10 at 11:30 a.m. at the Captiva Island Yacht Club, 5903 Captiva Drive, Captiva.

The guest speaker will be Lee County Parks and Recreation Director Jesse Lavender. In the year It talks about the beautification, erosion and enhancement projects that started on Sanibel Street in July 2021 and will continue until June 2024.

The Sanibel-Capiva Conservation Foundation is sponsoring the luncheon.

Cost is $30 for class members only. Advanced registration is required by August 5th at 5pm at sanibel-captiva.org or 239-472-8255. Entry will not be accepted. Payment is made at the time of registration.

Fort Myers Chamber Names Award Finalists

Sanibel-Capitiva Community Bank, FISH Sanibel-Capitiva President Maggie Feiner and FISH Executive Director Maria Espinoza have been named finalists for the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural Chamber of Commerce Awards.

Sun Cap Community Bank is a Big Business of the Year finalist along with Norton Mosteller Wright & Company of Markham. Feiner is a finalist for Community Impact, along with Terry Hansen’s Priority Marketing. Espinoza is a finalist for Young Professional of the Year, along with Goldstein’s Andrea Smith, Buckley, Checkman, Rice and Puertz.

Recognizing members for their contributions to the greater Fort Myers community, the awards will be held on August 11 at 5:30 pm at the Pelican Preserve Golf Club in Fort Myers.

BERGSTROM joins Islands Re/Max.

RE/MAX of the Islands has announced that local Realtor Chuck Bergstrom has joined the company.

Bergstrom of Chicago began visiting the islands in the late 1970s. His previous career includes 40 years of experience as a commodities trader on the Chicago Stock Exchange. Bergstrom moved permanently to the islands and started his career as a realtor in 2000.

He specializes in the sale and marketing of properties on Sanibel and Captiva. Bergstrom has been investing in real estate on the islands since he first started vacationing. And over the years he has become an expert in construction, renovation and renovation projects.

SunCap Community Bank replaces SEEGER.

Colleen Seeger has joined Capitiva Community Bank of Sanibel as a teller at its headquarters at 2406 Perwinkle Way in Sanibel.

She is responsible for assisting clients with personal and commercial banking transactions.

Seeger previously worked as a service provider at the headquarters from 2016-21.

Two island businesses made the top YELP listing

Joe’s Custard and The Shack of Sanibel made Yelp Top Ice Cream Spots in Florida 2022

For the Top 25 list, Yelp identified businesses in the ice cream category and then ranked them based on a number of factors, including overall volume and review ratings between January 1, 2021 and June 30. As of June 30, all listed businesses had a passing health score.

Joe Custard’s came in at No. 21 while The Shack of Sanibel scored the No. 3 spot.

Bank provides living arrangements to employees

In recognition of the team members’ hard work and dedication, Sanibel Capitiva Community Bank has announced a company-wide cost-of-living adjustment to benefit employees.

The board of directors voted unanimously to implement the change this month, citing cost of living, cost and retention needs as well as attracting employees.

The decision establishes new minimum pay standards for employees to ensure alignment with the bank’s overall business goals by maintaining and enhancing customer service.
