FARGO – Tickets are now on sale for 1 million Thanksgiving, a program to celebrate what entrepreneurs, innovators and technologists do in the Fargo-Moorhead community each year. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Fargo Air Museum, 1609 19th Ave. N.

Throughout the evening, Emerging Prairie will present awards to individuals and organizations that have made a significant impact in the startup, innovation and technology communities and contributed to the revitalization of their communities. The event will feature appetizers, a signature champagne toast and live music.

YWCA is looking for Women of the Year nominees

In the year Nominations are now open for the YWCA’s 50th Annual Women of the Year event, scheduled for April 24 at the Delta Hotel by Marriott, 1635 42nd St. S., Fargo.

Since 1973, the YWCA has been shining a spotlight on exceptional area women and business leadership at this event. Proceeds from the evening support the mission and programs of YWCA Cass Clay.

Nominees are sought for significant achievements by women in Fargo-Moorhead in 12 categories: for equality, arts and culture, business leadership and entrepreneurship, relationships, community and volunteer service, education, faith community, health and wellness, lifetime achievement, science and Technology, today’s and tomorrow’s young woman (ages 15-22) and youth advocacy.

In addition, there is a category to nominate a local business that empowers women to thrive professionally and economically – a leader in the Women’s Empowerment Award.

Nominations are accepted through February 20 at ywcacassclay.org/womenoftheyear.

The Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce will host its annual State of the Cities event from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Jan. 19 at the Delta Marriott, 1635 42nd St. S.

The event will include a Q&A with Dilworth Mayor Chad Olson, Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney, Horace Mayor Corey Peterson, Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson and West Fargo Mayor Bernie Dardis.

Possible topics of discussion include:

  • Manpower attraction and retention
  • Education
  • Economic growth
  • public safety
  • Child care
  • Housing and homelessness
  • Working strategically with neighboring cities
