DHL and the Council of Fashion Designers of America have selected the winner of the 2022 DHL Logistics Fashion Awards.

Black Boy Knights will receive a $15,000 grant from both organizations to help grow the business internationally and provide consulting opportunities.

Black Boy Knits is an independent design studio founded by Jacques Agbobli in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. Their goal is to highlight black, queer, and immigrant narratives and cultural contributions through an internationally oriented lens. The studio focuses on creating unique pieces on the basis of the work. Black Boy Knits was a finalist for the 2022 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.

“As an Afro-descended queer immigrant, equity, diversity and empowerment are at the forefront,” said Agbobi, who was born in Togo and received a BFA from Parsons School of Design. “This recognition will not only help me expand my business, but also help me achieve my mission of celebrating our culture and identity around the world through our unique and customized fashion designs,” Agboli said.

The DHL Logistics in Fashion Awards is part of a larger partnership with the CFDA to help fashion businesses take advantage of opportunities to expand globally. Last March, DHL Express US announced its return as CFDA’s exclusive official logistics partner, a partnership to help fashion businesses take advantage of opportunities to grow globally.

“We are excited to support emerging fashion designers like Jacques by giving them the opportunity to reach new heights in the global marketplace,” said Cristian Vera, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Dell Express Americas. “Our partnership with CFDA and our expertise in global logistics has helped hundreds of businesses in the fashion industry by allowing them to provide fast and reliable shipping to customers around the world.”

As part of their partnership, CFDA members and temporary members receive special shipping rates and access to DHL office hours, work directly with DHL shipping and logistics experts and receive expert guidance on their global supply chain.

“By facilitating a global supply chain, our partnership with DHL is enabling CFDA members and emerging brands alike to expand their businesses globally. We look forward to seeing how BlackBoy Kinetics will use this exciting opportunity to reach more customers around the world,” said Steven Kolb, CEO of CFDA.
