Vintage chain store Beyond Retro is making it easy for people to unearth their favorite denim gems early this spring and winter.

The company recently bowed out of its denim store, which began with stores in the UK, Sweden and Finland and online, featuring a wide range of jeans styles.

The vintage clothing is part of the ecosystem created by Retro’s parent company Bank and Vogue, one of the world’s largest second-hand clothing brokers. The Denim Shop offers thousands of new items every week from sought-after labels including Levi’s, Wrangler and Lee.

On the Beyond Retro website, shoppers can filter denim options by size, gender, category, price and style, as well as brand and era of manufacture. Product details include garment measurements and item condition details.

Products are also cosmetically adjusted. In “Make a Statement Denim,” items range from a multicolored western jacket, a 90s jacket with gold foil and cargo jean shorts to acid wash bomber jackets and flare jumpsuits.

In “Denim Essentials,” shoppers will find high-waisted black Levi’s jeans, Wrangler tapered jeans and dark wash overalls by Dickies.

According to Steven Bethel, co-founder of Banks and Vogue, BVH and Beyond Retro, on-demand items include oversized and low-slung denim. Traditional retail and skinny jeans are on the decline, he said.

“But without fail, no matter what the trends, the 501 is the classic fit that people always come to us for,” Bethel said of the 150-year-old style.

The denim store’s launch was accompanied by a “pieces from our past” campaign, urging consumers to rethink buying disposable fashion and adopt a more rounded perspective.

While vintage and resale fashion are on the rise among younger consumers, Bethel says the denim shopping experience is uniquely personal.

“I think everyone has their favorite denim brands and fits,” he said. I love some Lee jeans and opaque overalls with a tag that says “wears like a pig’s nose.”
