Bank of Montreal is establishing a technology hub in North Texas with plans to expand the brand across the US.

In addition to its existing operations in the region, Bank of Canada, also known as BMO, plans to hire 50 new employees for its Irving group.

“This will be a living and breathing environment in the center where we want to continue to grow,” BMO’s chief information and operations officer, Sid DeLoach, told the Dallas Business Journal.

The new hires will boost BMO’s existing 250-person DFW workforce as the company looks to expand its technology offering to clients. Irving is currently home to the bank’s transportation finance group. DFW also hosts some of the company’s wealth and commercial sales businesses.

The move makes Chicago the first technology hub for BMO outside of its North Texas headquarters and its U.S. operations. Globally, the company has approximately 50,000 employees and approximately $820 billion in assets.
