American fashion designer Tanya Taylor’s design philosophy has always been based on art, color and creativity. She hand-paints all the prints featured in each plus-size collection from American Women’s 0 to 22.
Her styles have been worn by many influential women, from First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and Michelle Obama to Hollywood celebrities Meryl Streep, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kacey Musgraves, Gigi Hadid and Eddie Bryant.
This summer, Taylor has a special family trip this summer, from Belfast and Dublin for historical sights to London for Wimbledon and the British Grand Prix (not to mention the Rolling Stones concert), and then to the Greek port of Helios for some beach vacations. Different climates, events, and environments (not to mention packing two small children) are a fun packing challenge.

“I get my best ideas when I’m exposed to new sights and sounds on my travels, and when that happens, it’s so convenient to have my iPad and pencil to draw everything.”
“Even in my everyday life, I love products that do double duty (which is also one of my design philosophies), and especially when it comes to travel. This moisturizing two-in-one makeup remover and cleanser has been my go-to and I’ve gone through many bottles. A gentle yet effective, soothing and refreshing way for my skin to end a day exploring in the sun.
“After every trip, my kids and I make Polaroid collages and postcards from the art museums we’ve visited. We do a lot of creative projects in our family, and I believe it is helping them grow into curious and expressive people.
“I’ve been wearing these handmade shoes all summer. I can’t resist a bold and stylish shoe, and these are so comfortable for long walks. I believe that style and functionality can coexist.

A good book
“I don’t have much free time to read, but I love a good book. You’ll definitely find me burying myself deep in one when I’m on vacation. One of the movies that excited me last year was Maggie Gyllenhaal’s. [adaptation of] The lost girlSo I have [the novel] On my list to read on my next trip. I love how Elena Ferrante’s books explore complex female relationships and encourage people to travel.
“When we were designing our summer swimwear collection, I was looking for a style that would work especially well as a bodysuit for a fun night out. My family is spending time in Greece this summer, and I can’t wait for a date night at the beach in this swimsuit paired with our beautiful tank top.
