Fall is around the corner and it’s time to get ready with the latest styles, trends and colors. Wondering what to wear for the upcoming season? Parkway Plaza Marketing and Business Development Manager Petra Rich organized a fashion show as part of their 50th anniversary celebration. This annual back-to-school fashion show features the latest trends for men and women from participating stores.
“The show focuses on body positivity and highlights the latest summer and fall fashion essentials,” said fashion stylist and creative director Lise Hoffmeier. The hosts were model and runway coach Alex Follas and Miss San Diego Central Alte Valdez. Valdez was crowned in San Diego an hour before the show and then rushed there to be a favorite.
Fall colors came down the runway in vanilla-latte beige, saffron orange, blue hues, tomato red and off-white. The Pantone color of 2022 is very pale. This color is a combination of various shades of blue and deep violet with red tones intended to represent the uncertainty and cautious optimism of this era. Her color beautified the highway and made the old new. Current trends have a 90’s vibe with a very relaxed fashion. On the runway models flaunted jackets and especially ripped jeans. There is a revival of boats for both men and women. Flannel shirts were worn by both men and women with cargo pants. Maxi dresses and short plaid shirts were worn by girls. Black leather pants and moto jackets are also in fashion. Do you remember the strappy bottoms in the 90s? That’s one of many patterns to come back to.
First on the runway was a classic black and white outfit from Drama Queens. Exclusively fashionable for women of all ages and sizes and new to Parkway Plaza. Next, JCPenney was offering all the latest styles and trends. Windsor offers some dresses for homecoming and special occasions. Tillis is a leading specialty retailer of casual wear and featured surf and ski wear. For those who love vintage, check out the one-of-a-kind vintage tees and dresses on Tillis. Forever 21 received a standing ovation from the audience as they packed the show back to school.
DJ Mason Dyer spun the tunes for the event. The first 50 people to register will receive a gift card from one of the participating sponsors. The event will include raffle prizes and special offers for back to school shoppers. Jerry’s photo booth was for added entertainment, giving guests a chance to take playful selfies.
