American Airlines is extending five European routes last September, according to data from Cerium. The carrier will continue to fly from its three hubs in Dallas, Charlotte and Philadelphia.
Increase in European flights
Due to strong demand for travel to Europe, Fort Worth-based American Airlines has extended flights on five European routes through the winter. The extension includes routes from Charlotte to Madrid, Philadelphia to Barcelona and Lisbon, and Dallas to Dublin and Rome. American’s schedule changes added more than 300 flights between November and December.
As of last week, flights between Charlotte and Madrid were scheduled to end on October 27. Sirius data will only be available at the end of March 2024. American appears to be preparing the route year-round, with flights scheduled as late as March. The actual dates are Philadelphia-Lisbon and Dallas-to-Dublin. Flights to Rome are scheduled to stop one day after the previously mentioned routes on October 28 and are scheduled daily until January 7. Daily flights resume on February 15 and are scheduled until the end of March.

Philadelphia’s route to Barcelona has two interesting slots in the schedule between September 2023 and March 2024. Flights are scheduled to be suspended daily until October 4 before resuming on the 29th. After running daily from January 7, flights will stop again, this time for longer, until February 15, just like the Dallas-Rome route. The schedule may be affected by delayed aircraft deliveries. Simpleplaying contacted American for comment but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
Today’s Sirius report changes show a significant year-over-year increase in flights to Europe from Dallas, Charlotte and Philadelphia this summer. American will fly to 13 European destinations this summer between three hubs.

Continuing flights to Auckland
A few days ago, Simpling Flight reported that American is set to launch flights between Los Angeles International Airport and Oakland Airport on December 21, as published by other publications. Information from Sirius today’s schedule change report confirms the rumor. Starting today, the carrier will fly to Oakland daily until February 14, 2024. After the 14th, the carrier will connect the two cities three times weekly until March 2. American also flies seasonally from Dallas to Oakland, and flights are scheduled to continue. October 28 and until March 2024.
Competition is heating up on routes between the United States and the South Pacific, with United Airlines announcing the expansion of its largest schedule to the region last week. The Chicago-based carrier has the largest schedule of any US carrier flying between the two regions.
