Murfreesboro, TN – Amelia’s Closet has announced Project ReStyle, its first fashion show fundraiser to be held on Thursday, October 13th, 6:00-8:00pm at Liberty Station, 850 NW Broad Street, Murfreesboro, TN. Demetria Kalodimos will be the protagonist of this amazing event.
“We are delighted to present this unique event combining a rematch and a fashion show,” said Jodi Powers, Founding Executive Director. “The competition involves five teams repurposing, mending and renovating two outfits in 45 minutes using donated clothes from Amelia’s Closet as the raw material. The teams’ creations will be judged by the winners.
“While the teams are creating their outfits, our generous Closet sponsors and partner boutiques will provide a fashion show of business wear and their favorite fall outfits,” Powers explained.
Since 2015, Amelia’s Closet has helped underprivileged women prepare for work, providing them with professional clothing, accessories for successful interviews, and makeovers. Clients have been referred from nearly 50 organizations, including Doors of Hope, Greenhouse Ministries and Journey Home.
The event will include a silent auction of high-end handbags, artwork and gift items.
“Having a job gives purpose,” Powers said. “Women from disadvantaged backgrounds lack the professional attire that is so important to make a first impression at a job interview. Our mission is to help our clients find gainful employment in the community and break the cycle of poverty.”
Light hors d’oeuvres, generously provided by The Tasty Table, will be served by some of the Freedom Station interns using their newfound skills. Liberty Station is an Amelia’s Closet social enterprise whose mission is to provide employment opportunities to disadvantaged and disabled adults who face employment barriers.
