Institute of public assets New data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicates that more Vermont businesses have become full-time workplaces. But some employees sometimes allow hybrid arrangements where they work from home.1
In the year By the time the pandemic hits in 2020, about 30 percent of Vermont businesses — which employ more than 150,000 workers — have expanded opportunities for employees to work outside the office. As vaccinations increase and the threat of Covid recedes, companies re-evaluate their telecom policies.
According to the BLS, establishments where all employees always work remotely will increase by nearly 40 percent from 2021 to 2022. The number allowed for a mix of in-office and remote work has dropped by a third.

Three years ago, the number of Vermonters dropped by 39,000, practically overnight. About 1,400 more people found work last month, pushing the number employed to 336,971. Another 5,500 people need to work to get Vermont back to where it was before the outbreak. Meanwhile, unemployment fell by about 600, with the unemployment rate falling to 2.7 percent from 2.8 percent in February.
