The iconic Grace Cafe & Grocery, a staple in Canal Park for 27 years, will close for good at the end of February.
According to owner Connor Reilly, the decision to close was made after trying to combat the outbreak and its aftermath, but it was difficult to do the right thing.
Amazing Grace has been serving locally sourced, from-scratch food, all kinds of baked goods and live music since 1995.
The family-owned business is located in the basement of the DeWitt-Setz Building. 
Riley announced Friday that he’s proud of everything the team has accomplished in 2020, including switching to a cafe and grocery store to deal with the pandemic.
Custer Addie Byrne said she sometimes misses hanging out at a place that’s a hidden gem.
“I bring a lot of out-of-towners here because they like to see Canal Park, and I think it’s a nice hidden little spot in Canal Park. I was really happy today. There were a lot of tourists everywhere, and this place wasn’t crowded so I could find a quiet place to do my work,” Byrne said.
The Amazing Grace will host a “Last Hurrah” concert on February 25th, followed by an open mic night on February 26th before the last day of work on February 27th.
Real released a statement about Friday’s closing, in part.
“As sad as the closing is, we have much to be thankful for to our wonderful staff, local vendors, farmers and roasters, and the many musicians who fill this space with their music. We are especially grateful to our loyal customers over the years who have created the community that has made Grace such a special place. Our motto of “Be brave, be kind, eat no bad bread” remains as true as ever.
There is still some hope that they will receive wonderful grace in the future. Riley’s also offers a subscription service for popular sourdough bread.
