6 street style handbag trends to remember from fashion week

I make it my point every season to see where I’m headed during New York Fashion Week and where I’m headed next (I actually live here, but getting lost remains my specialty). Broaden the cool items that everyone is wearing, especially by looking for ones that come up again and again. On the clothing side, there were definitely a few iterations, big ticket items like scarf coats, distressed leather jackets, full skirts and something that really felt ballet inspired. But the handbag selection was the main event.

Throughout New York Fashion Week, attendees were treated to a collection of bags ranging from classic shapes from the likes of Celine, Louis Vuitton and Chanel to more on-trend silhouettes and bags such as bowlers, metallics and, perhaps most famously, surrealist styles. Recognizing the brevity of this season’s handbag moments, I’ve taken it upon myself to narrow down the trends I saw most outside of the seven days of consistently valuable shows, presentations, and previews to the six that feel most relevant and buzzing this week.
