TArizona gubernatorial candidate Cary Lake has spent at least $108,000 on the former president’s properties.
In April and May, Lake’s campaign dropped $18,000 in “event expenses” at Mar-a-Lago, according to a campaign report filed Friday. Lake’s campaign was one of the biggest spenders in Trump properties in the past, according to one source Analysis of federal and state campaign statements.
Trump endorsed Lake, a former news anchor who was a Fox Phoenix affiliate, in September. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and former football player Herschel Walker, who are running for the Senate in Georgia, have spent more than $100,000 in campaign money at Trump businesses. The former president also supported it.
Arizona’s primary election ends on August 2. Selection shows Lake with a near single-digit lead.
Spokespeople for Lake and the Trump Organization did not respond to requests for comment.
