A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Los Cabos due to Hurricane Kai

Mexico is in for a hurricane this month and as it turns out, Los Cabos is currently under a tropical storm warning due to Hurricane Kay. A tropical storm warning indicates winds at least 40 mph is possible in the next 36 hours. Hurricane Kay is currently classified as a Category 1 storm with sustained winds between 74 and 95 mph.

However, if current forecasts hold, it will become a Category 2 hurricane with winds between 96 and 110 miles per hour. It might even be a Category 3 when it goes off the coast of Los Cabos.

Current forecasts for Los Cabos

Fortunately, for Los Cabos, that doesn’t mean the area itself will see wind of that. The center of the storm will be about 230 miles offshore by the time it passes. The storm is currently moving northwest over the Pacific Ocean at about 10-15 mph.
