In Crawford County, seeing the stark contrast between country and city life, rural resident Pat McClahan found out Friday that he has to travel more than two miles from where he lives to hear his next-door neighbors having sex. “It’s not like Chicago or New York, where your neighbors are on the other side when they’re building the wall,” said McClahan, who lives alone on the five-acre lot and his closest neighbors. As they make love, they meet them in the next town hall, down the highway and down a long driveway, their bedroom at the end of their house. “The hustle and bustle of the city is not for me, but there are days when I just miss walking a few feet to the window to listen to some good music. I think this is the main trade-off for more space and privacy, but it can be isolating at times to hear someone else enjoying themselves. God forbid that there should be an emergency, for by the time I reach them they will not be off their pace.” During the press conference, McClahan was seen loading the truck with a cake he had made for his neighbors and a ladder to the second floor.
