A new “affordable” airline is now offering some flights for less than $100 as customers across the country face price hikes for other airlines.

This week, Avello Airlines announced several new flights to some major airports with prices as low as $39 for one-way tickets.

“Avelo Airlines today announced that it will begin serving Lexington, Kentucky, offering exclusive nonstop service to two popular Florida destinations. One-way fares to Orlando and Tampa start at $39,” the airline said in a press release.

The announcement of the low-cost airline fee comes as travel prices across the country continue to skyrocket in the face of inflation.

Earlier this month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that the consumer price index rose 9.1 percent in June. The Consumer Price Index is the most commonly used number to measure the country’s inflation, and the number reported in June showed an increase of 8.6 percent compared to the previous month. June’s consumer price index was the biggest increase since 1981.

Data from the BLS this month also showed airline fares fell 1.8 percent in June. But compared to a year ago, airline prices were still up 34.1 percent, data showed.

In addition to the data released by the BLS, Frontier Airlines CEO Barry Biffle recently warned that Spirit Airline’s fares will increase after JetBlue’s announcement that it will acquire Spirit.

“If you’re a Spirit customer, you’re going to see the biggest inflation you’ve ever seen. … You’re going to see rates jump over 40 percent. It’s going to be hundreds of dollars per household,” Biffle told Yahoo Finance.

Avello Airlines bills itself as a “different, better and more affordable travel experience”. Earlier this week, the airline announced that it will offer flights from Kalamazoo, Michigan to Orlando, Florida, with fares starting at $59. Additionally, with prices starting at $39 for one-way service, Avello Airlines is offering flights from Wilmington, North Carolina to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

“We are thrilled to add Kentucky’s Bluegrass Region to Avello’s nationwide network of popular destinations. Getting to the Sunshine State is now easier and more affordable than ever,” said Andrew Levy, chairman and CEO of Avello Airlines, in a statement following the announcement of the flights from Lexington to Florida. .”

The statement continued, “These two sun-drenched destinations are ideal fall and winter retreats. Avello’s refreshingly convenient, reliable and caring service will leave our Central Kentucky customers relaxed and ready for fun in the sun.”

News week Avello has contacted the airline for comment.
