“As airfares drop after the busy summer travel season, savvy travelers can take advantage of fall savings,” Expedia said.

Expedia shared some tips for getting the most bang for your buck during the fall season, including traveling domestically on Sept. 26, when average ticket prices are expected to be 45 percent cheaper than during the summer months. For international flights, travel during the week of October 10, when average ticket prices are expected to drop 20 percent over the summer.

Alternatively, fly on a Tuesday or Wednesday instead of a Monday for the lowest fares. Also known as bundling, airline ticket reservations and lodging can save travelers hundreds of dollars.
