Singapore – Media Outreach – July 8 2022 – In light of the growing focus on digitaling business processes to increase workflow efficiency, employers are increasingly adopting technology that includes coding skills, which are the starting point for professionals to identify and measure problems and make data-based decisions. More than half (53%) of the employers surveyed said that the number of technology jobs requiring basic coding skills was increasing and that 73% of employers were looking to fill tech positions over the next two years.

The report is based on a survey of 200 business leaders in various industries in Singapore and interviews with industry experts and experts from NTUC LearningHub and its training content partners. It also offers tips on how to master code from different backgrounds and proficiency levels.

A strong majority of employers (84%) agree that there is a growing demand for employees in various workplaces to acquire basic coding skills. One-third of them (28%) said that key roles in their organization require some knowledge of code.

Although 51% of business leaders believe that traditional education standards are important, more than half of them are open to recruiting candidates with relevant education (67%) or related work experience (65%). ) But they have received skills training and received a coding certificate.

Employers are also looking for critical skills such as problem solving (69%), communication (58%) and digital efficiency (52%) as they are compatible with effective coder technology.
