Mad River Brewing recently announced the release of its newest product: Corn God Native Ale. Light Golden Cerveza is the first beer to feature tribally grown ingredients and will soon hit store shelves in the state.

Brewed at Iowa Farms using reclaimed corn, the beer will soon be available throughout California. This release is a major milestone in Mad River Brewery’s goal of developing fully ethnic, farm-to-table products.

“This is the first step toward our goal of producing completely tribal-to-table-to-table products,” said Linda Cooley, Yurok Tribal member and CEO of Mad River Beer, in a news release. “Starting with one substance is one measure, and we are happy to increase this and invite other tribal partners to work on cooperative projects that strengthen the economy and support sovereignty.”

The Maize Goddess celebrates the strength, power and resilience of women as leaders and givers of life, honoring indigenous cultures around the world. It’s a refreshing ale for not just beer fans, but those who appreciate socially conscious brands.

“The message behind Corn God is a refreshing contrast to the conventional objectivity and marketing of women in the craft beer world,” added Mad River Beer Marketing Director Jessica Kerenko. “Respecting Women is a two-way message about contributing to the visibility of indigenous tribal ownership by women.”
