A Camas business owner was arrested on April 27 by Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Summit County Dispatch received a report of an intoxicated person driving to a business on Center Street, according to a Sheriff’s Office report. The person who filed the report also stated that the person was planning to go to work to start a fight with an ex.
The man was spotted by deputies driving near the business, according to the report. He showed obvious signs of injury. Deputies conducted a standard field sobriety test, which the man performed poorly.
He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and taken to the Summit County Jail without incident.
The Sheriff’s Office also responded to other calls between Monday, April 24 and Sunday, April 30, including reports of vehicle burglaries, trespassing and drug possession.
Sunday, April 30
In Trailside, an unknown individual intentionally blocked a drain with sandbags to keep the runoff from going down the drain parallel to Old Ranch Road. The action then sent water into the yards of homes on Willowcreek Drive, causing one yard to flood. Deputies say they don’t believe it’s a hoax, but an attempt to protect their own property from flooding. The bags were left there at midnight on Thursday. Deputies patrolling the area have been asked to keep an eye on the drain and sandbags as they could cause serious damage if they move.
A Silver Summit man reported that his vehicle was parked in the driveway of his residence around 8:00 p.m. Thursday. The doors are open. This morning around 8 o’clock he noticed that his wallet and a pair of glasses were missing. The man allegedly spent the night charging his bank card at a 7-11 in Taylorville and a Walmart in Salt Lake City. The man had no follow-up about the incident. The case has been handed over to investigators.
Deputies were dispatched to Kimball Junction for a suspicious person. A man is said to be talking to himself near an office building, barefoot. Park City police officers on their way home assisted deputies in locating a man found in a maintenance closet in the office building. When deputies arrive, the man won’t talk to them. He also declined to provide identifying information. The suspect was arrested on trespassing and other charges. A fingerprint scanner was used to identify the suspect after he arrived at the Summit County Jail.
Saturday April 29
Special Enforcement Unit agents followed up on a stolen car case. The vehicle was located in a South Salt Lake parking lot using a license plate reader. The vehicle was impounded at the owner’s request. Deputies did not find additional suspect information or evidence related to the original case.
Deputies were dispatched to the Jeremy Ranch following reports of intoxication. The man was trying to get into a gas station. A deputy located the suspect in a muddy field east of a gas station. The man was arrested for intoxication and transported to the Summit County Jail without incident.
Tuesday, April 27
A vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Kimball for multiple moving violations. During the traffic stop, deputies noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search of the car was conducted, and deputies found a small amount of marijuana and THC products. The items were taken. The driver claimed ownership of the goods. The individual was issued a citation and released.
Deputies located a small amount of the drug and a woman in possession of it in the Newpark area. The man who was with the woman was never found. Dayshift said the man had an active non-bailable fugitive warrant and was advised to law enforcement that he had “violent tendencies.”
Wednesday, April 26
A vehicle traveling on SR 224 near Bear Hollow was stopped for driving the wrong way. A registration check revealed no insurance on the vehicle. The driver did not have a driver’s license and could not provide valid proof of insurance. The vehicle was impounded for the violation. The driver was issued a citation and released.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop in the area of Highland Estates. They discovered the driver had multiple warrants for his arrest and the vehicle was revoked and had an expired registration, no valid insurance from 2022. The vehicle was impounded.
Tuesday, April 25
Deputies stopped a vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 near mile marker 146 for multiple traffic violations. A roadside interview was conducted, and drug paraphernalia was found. The goods are seized as evidence of destruction. All parties were let off with a warning.
