Pete Davidson is so out of style that his personal style revolves around being ahead of the curve. As seen at the red carpet premiere of the upcoming TV show, BupkisDavidson has proven what I’ve said time and time again: this dude can’t wear it too hard, so he wears it better than any of us.
I’ve written extensively about Davidson’s sudden luxuries, his almost situational streetwear moments, and the surprisingly deep cuts he pulls off seemingly without trying.
It’s funny: Pete Davidson seems to care very little about fashion, but dude always wears something unexpectedly interesting.
Case in point, Davidson wore an oversized diesel coat on April 27 (over a pair of tailored jeans, no less) and brown UGG boots. Bupkis Premier.
Simply put: it’s so bad it’s amazing.
This is Davidson’s fourteenth time wearing basic hats and hat-blockers on the Red Carpenter, but the two pieces that stand out the most are the two pieces I mentioned above. – Action description with the maximum power of the skill.
If that sounds like effectively trying too hard, well, yes. But on the same night that Davidson wore his oversized denim jacket, Rihanna showed up in her own floor-length denim getup.
Oh, don’t get me wrong, you can’t compare Rihanna and Pete Davidson in terms of style (or, anything else)…or can you?
Ironically, Rihanna and Davidson may have some style cues in common. Both wear trends regardless, spoofing unexpected luxury while mixing mismatched outfits, daring the crowd to disagree with their devil-may-care vintage.
The main difference, of course, is that Rihanna clearly thinks about clothes and Pete Davidson, well, it seems like a miracle that he got out of bed in time.
But I appreciate that DGAF attitude. That’s what really stylish people do, whether they make that clear or not.
Trying to stay on top of the latest, fashionistas can’t compete with Davidson’s irreverent passion. And that’s what makes his presentation style truly amazing.
