BILLINGS – An Apsalooke designer has come a long way to launch her fashion line from her sewing machine on her kitchen table.

Angela Howe-Parrish will soon be heading to New York City Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. All this within months of her official launch in May this year.

“It’s a dream. It was a dream and I can’t believe it’s happening. I was crying when I got the letter,” said Howe-Parrish, the founding designer of Chalk Cherry Creek.

There were tears of joy for Howie-Parrish when she read the news. She has been invited to two exhibitions of her work this fall, one in New York City and one in Paris.

The news is that along with Rise New York Fashion Week and Paris-based Fashion Week, Howe-Parrish is very busy sewing and beading. The event in New York is September 9, and the Paris event is October 1.

Chalk Cherry Creek’s designs feature decorative patterns and colors, inspired by jewelry collections in local museums and family collections.

“All tribes are different and we have different designs. What I can say as a baker is that blackfeet design, that is crow flower design, we have crow geometric designs, we use certain colors, even in our beadwork, we don’t use black, but some tribes do,” he said. Howe-Parrish said.

Donna’s pencil skirt, which she referred to her mother as Howe-Parish, was featured in the Celebrate Our Mother collection. Her debut collection, along with a few hand-stitched coat pieces, is set to hit the runways and international audiences this fall.

“This is just a dress I made to go with some of[her ready-to-wear line]so this is going to be a big dress. I haven’t even decided what I’m going to do yet. I just look good like this, or I do this. I always ask for feedback from my son.”

It’s truly a family affair as her famous rapper and dancer husband Supaman opens her runway shows.

“He comes dancing, and then I do the fashion show,” she says.
