SetSail adds ChatGPT query capabilities to sales data

SetSail plans to build a new way to compensate salespeople, according to the data, companies can pay salespeople not in one big room, but where they are in the pipeline when they land the sale. They believed that this approach would allow sellers to take more risks.

Such an approach requires a lot of data to understand where the sales process is, and the data infrastructure is a great resource for generative AI. Today, the company announced new capabilities to ask the system questions in natural language, which is interpreted and answered by an SQL query.

Hagai Levy, founder and CEO of Setsile, said his company understood the need to obtain key information from data silos to build a fair sales compensation system. His company has built an underlying data layer, and can not only show it in dashboards with predefined data, now they can use it in a different way to answer the most pointed questions.

“We’ve spent a lot of time over the last three and a half years focusing on a data infrastructure product that ties all these silos together and provides 360-degree views using a dashboard — and then ChatGTP comes along and then we realize, hey, this is like another great entry point into our data,” Levy said. .

ChatGPT points out that it’s not just good at writing text, it can also write code, including well-structured SQL queries, enough to replace a dashboard with an interactive discussion of the data.

“We’ve combined the power of GPT with the data infrastructure we’ve created. It makes you ask yourself, why do we need a dashboard? We no longer need a dashboard because we can ask the questions and answer them directly.

While building sales incentives is still a viable idea, the data infrastructure it builds has proven valuable even if it’s not used for its original purpose. “In order to deliver on our original vision, we had to create a very unique set of data that automatically tracked everything…and what we found was that the infrastructure itself was very valuable to customers.”

So you can ask specific questions like which deals are close to closing, which salespeople are having trouble closing deals, and who is meeting with an executive decision maker this week. The system connects to email, calendar, CRM, marketing automation systems to build a picture and provide feedback better than looking at data points in a dashboard.

In addition to these new capabilities, the company also announced an investment of $11 million. Investors include Zoom Ventures, which itself recently launched Zoom IQ, a new chat tool aligned with SetSail’s new capabilities.

The company It was founded in 2018 and has raised nearly $50 million in recent investments.
