Summary Different AI models are one of the most common use cases, and we now have many tools that reduce articles, PDFs, videos, and transcripts into easily digestible chunks of information. Now, meeting intelligence tool Reading has introduced a new feature that cuts an hour-long meeting into a two-minute clip, with important pointers.
The company says it’s using large-scale language models — which it didn’t specify — combined with video analytics to pick out key parts of the meeting. Read includes participants’ responses in a highlight reel. Users can go to their meeting recording and turn off the “Play highlights only” toggle to watch the compressed clip.
Reading was founded in 2021 by former Foursquare CEO David Shim. The tool, which works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Webex, gives you analytics like sentiment and engagement results to measure meeting effectiveness. The company has raised $10 million in seed funding from investors including Madrona Venture Group and PSL Ventures.
Shim likens watching the two-minute clip to watching the highlights of a sports game. In addition, during the trial period, some customers have an impact on productivity.
“During the preview period, the agency’s clients saw a 30%+ increase in employee productivity. Tedious tasks including pulling notes together are done, and sharing these notes with manually created video highlights eliminates the need to set up a meeting to discuss the previous meeting, he said.
In January, Reading introduced a text-based summary feature powered by OpenAI’s GPT model. The video highlight feature is an evolution of that. As the demo below shows, sometimes the highlights cut off the speaker mid-sentence, which can be frustrating when trying to hear important points. The company has stated that it is working to improve this feature.
He also read that in the coming weeks, he will include text summaries in the videos using captions.
Including Otter and Zoom – they are offering AI-powered meeting summaries. While most use some kind of big language model, Read’s approach to getting a Tik Tok-style short video summary will appeal to people who want to capture a lot of missed meetings.
