If you thought biometrics was the wave of the future in airport technology, wait until some futurists hear what it will look like 50 years from now.

London-based budget airline Ryanair recently conducted a study to find out what travel into the future might look like, and the results looked like something out of a science fiction movie.

Of course, when people first told us that we could check email on our phones and watch sports scores and whatever, we were amazed. So read with an open mind.

According to Euronews, by 2070, we’re talking passports based on your heartbeat. What could be more high tech than that? That is among other things including the right choice of your destination long before you take the trip.

“Just like trying on clothes in a store today…customers can research and try on holiday destinations in the online metaverse before making a purchase,” Professor Birgit Andersen, CEO of the Big Innovation Center, told EuroNews.

“It benefits those who have limited time or financial options and need to make better educated choices,” Anderson said.

And not just air transport. Hotels also change.

“Think of the hotel itself as a single AI-meets-human entity, managing your entire stay, tailored to your preferences,” trend forecaster Shivvi Jervis. “A digital virtual room assistant (think super-Alexa) will greet you and help you with everything from ordering new towels to suggesting places to eat and making reservations for you.”
