ABTA;

The Travel Association has launched a new video campaign highlighting travel as a huge industry.

The two-minute video is the latest in ABTA’s ‘#BePartofTravel’ campaign, which aims to help members attract and retain talent in the industry. It has been launched to coincide with National Jobs Week, which runs from 6 – 11 March.

The video provides testimonials on why ABTA member travel agents and tour operators work in the industry and should be considered as a career path by graduates and career changers for a number of reasons. Among the main reasons why people should join the sector are travel, cultural and career opportunities.

The video will be advertised on LinkedIn and shared across ABTA’s social channels during National Jobs Week and will continue to be promoted over the coming months. There is also a series of short videos, each featuring a travel industry expert.

ABTA is encouraging its members and ABTA education partners to get involved in the campaign by sharing the new video on their own channels as well as ABTA’s existing social media assets on job opportunities. Available from the Marketing Toolkit.

Vicky Wolfe, ABTA Head of Education and Career Development said:

“This is an exciting time to join this exciting, dynamic and versatile travel industry. Young people looking for career ideas and those with transferable skills should consider a career in travel.”

These are the messages we are trying to get across with the new video and the ‘#BePartofTravel’ campaign as a whole. The campaign has received positive feedback from ABTA members who are facing recruitment challenges as the industry continues to recover from the pandemic.

Gilles Hawke, CEO of Cosmos Tours, reflected on their extensive work in the video:

“I’ve been here for 30 years now and I’ve enjoyed every moment, even during the hard times. We had to deal with some really big things, and you learn a great deal about yourself. You learn about what you can do.
“You travel to amazing places around the world and you get experiences that you would struggle to have on holiday as a consumer. So travel is an industry to work with.”
