Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Louva County is hosting a women in agriculture series called Annie’s Project. From the end of the month, those interested have to register by February 16.
The Annie Project is a national non-profit organization started 20 years ago to educate and empower women in agriculture. The series consists of six courses over six weeks focused on farm management. Samantha Jamison, program director of agricultural education with Louisa County Extension, tells KCII what women can expect during the session. “Course participants learn ideas and how to make decisions in five key areas: finance, human resources, legal, marketing and on-farm production. It’s more about planning and analyzing what it means to manage a farm.”
Courses are held at the Louisa County Fairgrounds Youth Center. They start on Thursday February 23 and continue every Thursday in March from 6-9pm, with food served at 5:30. Total cost is $75 for six sessions.
