Although I am a frequent traveler, I have never been the type to bring my own blankets and pillows on a plane trip. Trying to squeeze two large soft items into my backpack always felt like a lot of trouble—that is, until I shipped the Blue Hills Premium Travel Blanket-Pillow. Promised to be super easy to pack and carry, it was the perfect item to try on a recent eight-hour flight to Paris — and it made me a believer.

Measuring 11.5 inches by 10 inches when closed and weighing just over 1 pound, the blanket-pillow hybrid is smaller than many other travel accessories and extremely light. Soft, fluffy, the carrying case for the blanket acts as a pillow itself, and all you have to do is unzip the bag to fit it. The same comfortable material for the pillow case is used for the blanket, which measures 60 inches by 43 inches when unfolded, making it incredibly cozy and warm.

What’s more, the Bluehills Premium Travel Blanket-Pillow is designed to be as comfortable as it needs to be, even with an attached elastic strap for easy strapping to a suitcase or backpack for hands-free carrying, as well as a carabiner backpack clip. Plus, it’s really stylish, coming in eight fun colors including purple, teal and aqua blue.

For my flight to Europe, I was able to easily fit a travel blanket-pillow in my carry-on bag because it was so soft and portable. During the flight, I first used it as a blanket, and found it was long enough to cover and keep me warm while watching a movie. When it was time to go to bed and turn it into a pillow, I was skeptical that I would be able to store the blanket in the case without any trouble, but I was surprised that it was so easy; In fact, it only took a few seconds to complete the conversion. As for the resulting pillow, I found it firm enough to support my head, yet soft enough to comfort me and prevent any soreness.

I was really impressed with how well the Blue Hills two-in-one travel blanket and pillow performed during the flight, and when I tried it out again a few weeks later on a five-hour plane ride to Los Angeles, I was like, OK? I am satisfied. Since I was in an aisle seat and didn’t have a window to lean against, I used the belt attached to the cushion around the headrest of my seat, which worked perfectly. I was able to sleep for a few hours, more than usual for a flight of that length, and my neck and back felt completely fine. With that kind of experience, I knew it was bound to be my journey.

Like me, many other travelers consider the Blue Hills Combo Blanket-Pillow an in-flight essential. In fact, it has received over 1,200 five-star ratings from Amazon shoppers. One reviewer wrote, “I love this [the blanket] It is full length and width. I ended up falling asleep inside.” He also said, “When the pilot announced that we had arrived at our destination, I was able to easily fold it back up and zip it up. bag before landing.”

Another customer called it “a perfect travel blanket for kids and adults,” adding, “It’s a great size and very compact once it’s in the bag it came with.” Once inside, a third person said it “saved our trip” during a 15-hour stay, adding that the “soft, comfortable” stuff “helped me rest a little in an otherwise very, very uncomfortable and cold place.”

Additionally, several customers have mentioned that the Bluehills Premium Travel Blanket-Pillow is useful on long road trips, camping adventures, and other non-flying activities.
