MILWAUKEE – A Milwaukee man who has spent half his life in prison has done more than just turn his life around. He is helping others in the city.
One of Go Time Trucking’s goals is to help people who are struggling in life get back in the driver’s seat. Trucks aren’t just about delivering goods, they’re inspired.
“He’s an example to everybody because a lot of us are Ed. His story is our story,” said employee Todd Jones.

Milwaukee-born Ed Henning says he’s in the “inspired” business. He is the first to tell you: When he was young, he took the wrong path in life.
Hennings said, “Who am I fooling trying to do all these good things to the school? I’m really just making money fast with the guys in the area.” “Once you’ve gone that way, change is the most difficult thing for anyone on earth.”
A big change came in 1996 when Henning went to prison, charged with first-degree reckless homicide. He said he used his 20 years in prison to create energy and change things.
“Your struggle is truly a blessing.”
Henning got out of prison in 2016 and started his hair salon, his own shoe line and his company Go Time Tracking.

“You just keep hugging him,” Hennings said. “People see ‘Ed like he did. Ed’s gone a long way for this, so I think I can do it.'”
Now, he wants to lead by example — giving workers like Jones the key to turning their lives around.
“I was incarcerated myself for 25 years when I was 15,” Jones said.
Hennings’ other employees have a similar background and now a new direction.
“We see Ed as a walking example of what a billboard we can be, but it’s also a liability because there are no excuses,” Jones said.
“Both in prison and here in the free world, there’s a lot of brokenness, so people need inspiration and to know that they can do it,” Hennings said.
Hennings holds weekly highlight calls to help people learn how to get into the business and into their own cars. It has information about those classes available online.
