HUDSON VALLEY, NY – Snow may be out of the forecast for Christmas Day in the Hudson Valley, but there are chances for snow across the region before the holiday weekend begins.
Getting out of town on Thursday and Friday – if that’s what you’re thinking – will undoubtedly be, for lack of a better word, chaotic.
Meteorologists are calling for strong winds and reduced rainfall due to an Arctic blast that follows heavy rain.
The region could be hit by strong winds, heavy rain and strong winds on Thursday and Friday. It will no doubt cause travel delays at airports and hazardous conditions on the roads, AccuWeather forecasters said.
Saturday will be partly to mostly sunny, but highs will only be in the 20s.
“This storm is likely to be powerful as it feeds on the large gap between arctic air coming from the central states and relatively warm air over the southeastern US,” said John Porter, chief meteorologist at Acquacer.
“Decades of major East Coast storms have occurred in this type of setting, creating the potential for heavy snow and rain, strong winds, coastal flooding, severe thunderstorms, and even hurricane-force winds further south,” he said.
If you’re staying in the Hudson Valley for Christmas Day, you can expect sunny to sunny skies, with high temperatures in the mid to upper 20s.
