Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Hand-block print cotton collections designed by renowned fashion designer Mumtaz Khan from Bhopal wowed the audience at ‘Trishul The Divine Fashion Show’.
Famous models of the country walked the ramp to showcase Khan’s beautiful designs with traditional and natural hand-block bag print from Madhya Pradesh and Ajrak print from Gujarat in his new collection ‘Bliss’.
He surprised the fashion lovers by offering cotton clothes and embellished with zardozi. Bridal and women’s party wears were also presented in cotton material which was highly appreciated by the audience. Similarly, it has also designed printed jackets long kaftan for men in a stylish way for the event.
Mrs. India International Deepti Saini from Jaipur was the opening act of the event. Film TV actress Nirbhay Wadwa and Miss Globe 2016 Dimple Patel were the hosts of the event. Farhan Qureshi and Naved Khan from Bhopal also walked the runway at the recent fashion show in Mumbai.
Internationally acclaimed fashion designer Mumtaz Khan is known for her traditional prints, clean textiles and Indo-Western cuts. Bag Print, Chanderi, Maheshwari, Dabo and Batik has showcased the print of Madhya Pradesh in many fashion weeks. Bag Print has popularized the traditional MP print in the world of fashion and glamour. He also revived traditional royal fashion and zari zardozi and brought it into trends.
Khan designed clothes for Farida Jalal, Shushma Seth and Ranjit Kapoor for the award-winning film Mehram. He designed clothes for the production of ‘Merchant of Venice’, Fbb Femina Miss India 2017 and Miss India Earth Shaan. He showcased his collection at LIFFT India Film Mahotsav- World Cinema Festival in 2018 and 2019.
Khan set a record by designing two dresses with 1,000 meters of fabric on Rajasthan Foundation Day. He designed a 300 meter flare lehenga on Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day. A spectacular design of 170 meter skirt was presented at ‘India at 70’ in Glasgow Scotland, UK during the 2017 Independence Day celebrations.
He is the recipient of many national and international awards including Iconic Fashion Designer of the Year, Best Celebrity Designer 2019 (North India), Most Promising Designer 2020, Special Jury Award at Kala Samrudhi International Film Festivals. He has been a judge in many international film festivals and participated in many workshops on hand block printing, zardozi work and weaving in Madhya Pradesh.
