Laredo Fashion Week kicks off on August 19th before the Designers Fashion Show takes place on August 20th.

The fashion show has become a local tradition and showcases the talent and fashion of Avanti Model School and Agency as well as 13 international fashion designers.

For the fashion show, there will be three different shows: children’s designers, ready-to-wear designers and Haute Couture designers’ fashion shows.

80 local models as well as 30 local hair and make-up artists will participate in the event, said the organizers.

Each show will host different designers in each category and will be separated by time slots. The Children’s Designer Show will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Ready to Wear from 4-5:30 p.m., and Haute Couture from 7-9 p.m.

The show has spanned the years, with local models showcasing extravagant dresses and the latest fashion designs from visiting designers. Considered an integral part of the fabric of Laredo, fashion continues to grow, and local fashionistas pay attention to their own work.

Jude Hinojosa, a student at Central Saint Martins Masters Fashion Program in London, has been selected as one of five students whose work will be featured in Dr. Martens’ “All Access Summer” campaign.

And they saw a partnership between Dreamers Photography School and Avanti on the streets of Laredo. According to Avanti director Laura Cervantes, the photo shoot was part of a course where the models created different outfits and costume themes based on the rock concept. The theme is good with the lifestyle of bikers, which came from the cooperation with many motorcycle groups.

Cervantes is the director of both Laredo and Houston Fashion Week, which is important for modeling and fashion in the border area. As New York has strict precedents, local models can showcase the collections of international designers visiting Laredo Fashion Week this August.
