The plates – Georgia Tech women’s basketball will face the University of South Florida in the opening round of the 2022 Gulf Coast Tournament. The three-day tournament is Nov. 25-27 at Hertz Arena in Estoro, Fla.
Georgia Tech joins an eight-team field that includes six NCAA Tournament teams from last season. Joining the Yellow Jackets in Southwest Florida are Air Force, Baylor, Belmont, Michigan, St. Louis, USF and Villanova.
The first round of action tips off Nov. 25 with the Jackets and Bulls opening day at 7:30 p.m., with the semifinals on Nov. 26.
The Yellow Jackets own a 5-0 record against South Florida. They met for the first time in 1983. American Athletic Conference, and reached the title game of the conference tournament. They made their eighth NCAA Tournament appearance by earning a No. 9 seed in the Greensboro Regional.
The Gulf Coast Showcase returns for its 10th year this November. Tech will be making its second appearance at the Gulf Coast show after playing in the tournament in 2014.
