Ukrainians can buy electronics and other products with digital coins thanks to services provided by WhitePay. A payment processor founded by Ukraine-born digital asset exchange Whitebit recently implemented crypto payments in the country’s largest tech stores.
Crypto Platform Whitepay launched coin payments in major tech stores in Ukraine
Whitepay, one of the platforms operating as part of the crypto exchange Whitebit ecosystem, has introduced crypto payment for products offered by major Ukrainian tech stores.
Among the electronics retailers whose customers will benefit from the new service are Tehnoezh (Техно Їжак in Ukrainian), the leading online platforms in the sector, and Stylus.
The integration allows shoppers to use more than 130 different digital currencies for their purchases. The plan is to expand the list of supported digital coins in the future.
Holders of Ukrainian crypto-assets are loaded with WhitePay in digital assets in online stores in appropriate forms, or in physical locations through special point-of-sale (POS) terminals. The payment processor maintains the system and provides customer support.
Cryptocurrencies have become very popular among Ukrainians in the past few years, with their country becoming the leader in adoption in Eastern Europe. Kyiv has taken steps to control the industry, and after Russia invaded the country at the end of February, the government and volunteer groups have relied on crypto donations to support defense and humanitarian efforts.
Estonia-headquartered Whitebit, the main European crypto exchange originating from Ukraine, is involved in such efforts. At the beginning of this year, the trading platform signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country to provide support to the anti-crisis center and to support Ukrainian refugees in representative offices abroad.
Other crypto companies have also offered to help. The world’s largest digital asset exchange for daily trading, Binance, issued a special crypto card to Ukrainians forced to flee their homes due to the ongoing military conflict with Russia.
BTC, ETH and BNB can support Ukrainian families, children, refugees and displaced people by donating to Binance Charity Ukraine Emergency Relief Fund.
