A black and blue steak and crab restaurant is looking to fill the CVS space
The closing of the Central Street CVS late last year paved the way for restaurant Black & Blue Steak and Crab Restaurant to move into 65 Central St. You can find a lot of different things at CVS, but you definitely can’t. A $94 grand sea for four there.
We reached out to Black and Blue for more details on what he hopes to open at Wellesley Square, for example.
The Black and Blue has three in New York and one in Burlington, Mass. Bullington Restaurant opened in 2018 in the Residence Inn Hotel.
The Black and Blue restaurants are part of the large portfolio of restaurateurs Charlie Fitzsimmons.
Menu items at the Burlington spot include appetizers ranging from $13 (pork) to $19 (crab and lobster fondue). Entrees include seafood such as Black Grouper ($37, gulf grouper, artichoke, cipollini onion, kalamata olives, sundried tomato, scallion pesto, and black garlic vinaigrette) and king crab (according to “If you must ask…”). Steaks range from 9 oz. Bistro for $29 to $59 porterhouse or bone-in cowboy ribeye.
Black and Blue adds to the list of new restaurants that expand the area’s choices for dining options in Wellesley.

When we heard about a coffee shop moving into the former home of DeLaria’s Saloon (now at 67 Central) at 37 Central St. (now at 67 Central), it looks like women’s clothing retailer Johnnie Was is about to move in.

Johnny Was has stores across the country. Locally, the closest is at Prue in Boston.
Wellesley Square plays safe
The park in Wellesley Square continues to be popular, although one of its most used features is now gone, replaced by traditional tables and chairs. People have been asking us what happened to those spinning birdhouse swings. The city says it was having some problems with the materials and maintenance (some pins and screws were coming loose), so it took them down just to be safe.
The city plans to assess the park later this month to determine if it will remain intact until the fall.
Needham Bank taps new VPs
Needham Bank announced that Arthur Zweill has joined the Commercial Lending Department as Vice President, Commercial Real Estate Lending. He is responsible for reviewing, authorizing and approving business loans and advising borrowers on strategies to manage their business finances. Before joining Needham Bank, Mr. Zwill worked at Boston Private Bank and then at Merger Silicon Valley Bank.
Separately, Needham Bank announced that Philip Crotz has joined the Information Technology division as vice president, IT security program officer. He is responsible for maintaining IT security functions and serving as the external and internal IT liaison to federal auditors.
