Beyond Green, Planet Earth’s curated international portfolio of the most sustainable hotels, resorts and lodges is delighted to welcome Casa di Langa as its newest member in Italy. Casa di Langa, which opened its doors last summer, offers a breathtaking location in the rolling green foothills of Italy’s Piedmont region, combined with farm-to-table dining and authentic activities. In addition to providing guests with authentic cultural experiences, Casa di Langa is committed to operating 100% sustainable energy sources, including solar energy, geothermal heating and cooling, and certified renewable energy. A rainwater recovery system has been installed and single-use plastics have been banned. Casa di Langa has a deep respect for the natural world and its sustainability, with biodiversity as the hotel’s ethos. The property minimized its footprint on the existing land by reforesting and planting to increase its green space, as well as introducing a large garden that provides much of the fresh produce and herbs served in the hotel’s Faula Ristorante.
Visitors can choose from 39 modern rooms boasting green valleys, distant snow-capped peaks and the magnificent Serralonga de Alba Castle with its ancient medieval castle. Reusing and redeveloping the existing building, Casa di Langa is inspired by the UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserving its vast 42 hectares of vineyards, forests, orchards and hazelnut plantations. Numerous local activities include wine tasting, cooking classes, foraging for the famous black and white truffles and exploring the rural villages of Northern Italy, as well as hiking and cycling for the more active traveler.
Casa di Langa joins Borgo Pignano as the second Italian member of Beyond the Green. Set in the heart of Tuscany’s beautiful 750-acre organic estate, Borgo Pignano has been meticulously restored and boasts panoramic views of the rolling countryside and vineyards. A regenerative agriculture model of self-sufficiency and natural living; Guest experiences include learning about beekeeping, local traditional methods for extracting honey and wax, collecting wild herbs and flowers with domesticated plants, and learning how these natural ingredients are used in the hotel’s products and food.
