Theater Three’s stage became a catwalk for local business owners and residents this weekend for the first-ever Vogue in the Village fashion show.
Presented by the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and Fedora Lounge Boutique Hair Salon, about 40 people dressed up to show off some of the village’s latest trends. Volunteer make-up artists and hair stylists helped the models get ready in advance, and many stores donated clothes, accessories and shoes to the good cause.
“I wanted a fun way for the village to come together,” says Christine Murillo, owner of Fedora Lounge.
Murillo said the $20 ticket fee will go back to the room.
Along with local business owners and their staff – like Tabu Boutique, Skin Med Spa, The Amazing Olive, Fox & Own Inn, Spice & Tea Exchange, Ivory & Swim and East End Shirt Company (to name a few) – many other surprises. There were things.
Indu Kaur, owner of Curi Club @ SaGHAR and Meadow Club, joins others for a lively dance performance and Fetch Doggy Boutique & Bakery kicks off the show with Yorkies on the latest trends (plus they’re up for adoption, also from Yorkie 911).
Before the 1pm show on Sunday, April 23rd, sponsors and other shop owners hosted a small vendor fair for those looking to shop and browse.
“Seeing local businesses partnering with the Chamber of Commerce, the local theater and village officials just goes to show that teamwork can create a fun and positive experience for everyone,” said Port Jefferson Trustee Katya Snaden, who worked with her daughter in the event. “I’m proud to be a part of this event and proud of our community.”
