There are certain times in sports when you can’t help but feel cold. That was the case Friday night after Uvalde High School’s football team saw a comeback in its home opener.
With 36 seconds to go, Uvalde’s offense broke through the CC Winn High School defense on a 51-yard run.
On the next play, Uvalde scored a one-handed touchdown reception.
The crowd went wild as Uvalde took a 34-28 lead.
With just 12 seconds left, Uvalde’s special teams and defense made the necessary effort to preserve the lead.
Last year, the Uvalde football team had a 2-8 record. This season is off to a different start.
Uvalde is 2-0 this season with wins over Carrizo Springs and CC Wynn High School.
Following the season opener, Eluterio Rendon had a great message about how the Uvalde community is cheering on the team.
“It was a sign of the 21 angels looking down on this community and saying that they’re here, they’re here and they’re here to stay. So that was a beautiful, special moment,” Rendon said, via ABC.
