Union College’s field hockey team is kicking off their preseason preparations ahead of their team trip to Italy. Day 1 – August 11, 2022
Ciao from Italy! Assistant coach Alicia Aragosa We’re here to tell you all about the first day of our trip, our field hockey clinic, and get ready for whatever comes next. As I write this, we are heading back to the hotel from our movie hockey clinic for our first Italian dinner!
The girls arrived in Newark on August 10th for Goosebumps Day. We had a smooth ride through Lisbon and a connecting flight to Rome. Our guide Stefano greeted us as we arrived at the bus and bus driver Ivan was waiting for us. We headed to our hotel to rest and recover before our first field hockey clinic. We visited a local pizza shop and market to stock up on food and the girls got to play. When the girls rested, the coaches went to a nearby park to see what the area had to offer.
We then moved to a field hockey club – Tevere Euro Hockey Club – where local Italian field hockey players practice and compete. Upon arrival, Madelon, the president of the field hockey club, and our coach, Luca, welcomed us. The clinic was fast and fun. Thank you Tevere Euro Hockey Club!
Tonight we enjoy the first of our many Italian dinners and look forward to what’s in store. On this trip we travel from Rome to Florence to Pisa to Milan and end our trip at Lake Como and Bellagio. Tomorrow we will take a walk through the ancient ruins in the center of Rome and compete in our field hockey game against the Italian Tevere Euro Hockey Club.
