After the School of Health and Human Sciences’ public health program fostered a partnership between UNC Wilmington and Ndejje University in Luweero, Uganda, UNCW has signed two agreements that solidifies a collaborative relationship between the institutions. UNCW has active agreements with universities and institutions in the United States and around the world, but this is the university’s first in East Africa.

This accomplishment is due to the efforts of Dr. Michelle Cathorall, program coordinator and associate professor, and Dr. Sabrina Cherry, associate professor, who spent several weeks in Uganda this summer cultivating relationships and setting the stage for faculty and student exchanges in the coming years. These agreements outline faculty and student exchanges, curriculum development and joint research opportunities. UNCW will support up to two Ndejje students per year to spend up to a year taking public health classes at UNCW.
