TWIN FALLS, Idaho – Poindexter’s Clothing Store and Novel Shop reopened Aug. 10 after a massive fire at the store next door forced it to close its doors for several months.
The store was closed on April 12 after a fire broke out next to the building. More than 100 firefighters and three water trucks were called to the scene to help prevent the Radio Rodevo fire from spreading to nearby downtown buildings.

Although the damage from the fire was minimal, water damage caused by fire trucks accounted for most of the Poindexters’ cases.
“We have had extensive damage to the roof. We have insulation damage. Our covers were all wet. We had standing water the day of the fire. “There was two inches or more of standing water in here,” said Poindexter’s owner Suzanne Buehler.
Robert Sanchez Jr., manager of Poindexter’s, was devastated when he heard the downtown business was threatened.
“For me, it would be like my future was taken away from me because I love this place. I’ve been here for 12 years. It’s a nice place and I come to work every day,” he said.
Now four months after the fire, the Poindexters are back open and excited to invite the community and the downtown district inside.
“I love downtown and I never want to leave here,” Buhler said.
