It was reported that two pilots on an Ethiopian Airlines plane fell asleep and missed landing on a flight between Sudan and Ethiopia on August 15. Air traffic control was unable to locate the crew before it crashed at the airport.
And in the year Passengers traveling from France to England were trapped for hours in an undersea channel tunnel after a Eurotunnel train broke down on August 23. At 31.4 miles, the tunnel is one of the longest of its kind in the world.
In happy rail news, the world’s first hydrogen-powered passenger trains have entered service in Germany. Fourteen trains run on fuel cell propulsion exclusively in an environmentally friendly way in Bremervoorde, Lower Saxony.

Drought findings
