After exploring the dynamics of competing businesses like Netflix and Blockbuster, Coca-Cola and Pepsi, and Facebook and Snapchat, superstar Taylor Swift’s rivalry with musician Scooter Braun over ownership of her music’s originals is the subject of the new season. Business Wars, a podcast hosted by David Brown at Wondery.
“Trade Wars: Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun” premieres at midnight ET (September 7) on Amazon Wonder+ in three episodes titled “Outside” (available on all podcast platforms), “Bad Blood” and “Revenge.” Swifties. The second episode will hit a wide release on September 14th, followed by episode three a week later. A bonus material section is also in progress.
The season plot synopsis reads: “Pop icon Taylor Swift has amassed the most loyal fan base in the music industry. Those fans will be a vital tool when Taylor decides to take on the most powerful, most popular manager – Scooter Braun. In Wondery’s new podcast series, ‘Business Wars’, an artist’s quest to own their master tracks becomes a costly and painful battle against the power to reshape the music business.

Swift claims that Brown sold the rights to those records without giving her the opportunity to buy them. Since then, she has re-recorded two albums, “Fearful” and “Red”, both of which were released in 2021.
Launched in 2018, “Business Wars” examines the rivalry between two organizations in several episodes. Previous editions of Netflix vs. Blockbuster, Coca-Cola and Pepsi, Facebook vs. Snapchat, ESPN vs. Fox Sports and Uber Eats will also examine the conflicts between DoorDash, Grubhub and Postmates in the food delivery wars.
“Business Wars” is a 2019 Webby Awards winner in the “General Podcasts – Business” category. In 2020, it won an iHeartRadio Award for Best Business and Finance Podcast.
