The life insurance team at Comparethemarket looked at the size of Instagram hashtags and Google searches for more than 70 famous world landmarks to reveal what people dream of visiting. Check out the three below.

Burj Khalifa It is the world’s most famous bucket list symbol. The Burj Khalifa in Dubai is the tallest building in the world and the most famous international landmark. The skyscraper has an average search volume of 2,240,000 per month, the highest in the study. There are over six million images on the platform with the hashtag #burjkhalifa as travelers share their favorite images of the great landmark.

The Eiffel Tower It is the second most popular landmark on travelers’ bucket lists and the most Instagrammed landmark in the world. Paris is known for being the city of love, so it’s no surprise that the Eiffel Tower ranks as the second most popular place on people’s bucket lists. Every night from 11:45pm to 11:45pm, the tower lights up with a glittering golden display. So it’s no surprise that the Eiffel Tower is the world’s most-followed account on Instagram using the hashtag #eiffeltower, with over 7.2 million images.

Thirdly is ranking. Times Square Over 1.5 million Google searches per month. Times Square, the epicenter of the world’s entertainment industry, is the third-largest bucket-listed landmark in the world. The New York City icon has nearly five million Instagram posts under the #timessquare hashtag, as well as 1.5 million Google search queries every month.

Four American symbols stand out among the top 10 most famous in the world. Times Square, Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, and the White House all rank among the top 10 most famous bucket list landmarks in the world.

Niagara Falls’ global monthly search volume averages 1.8 million and also sees 3.6 million Instagram posts. Meanwhile, about 1.2 million people a month are searching the Grand Canyon, and 1.5 million are searching the White House.
