University of Missouri Health Care has named Dustin Thomas chief financial officer.

Thomas will be joining the institution on Sept. 15 from the University of Texas Medical Branch where he serves as chief analytics officer and health system chief financial officer.

“Dustin is a proven financial leader with a strong academic health system background” said Nim Chinniah, MU Health Care’s interim chief executive officer and Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs. “He will be an exceptional addition to our executive team and joins a group of talented and committed leaders.”

Thomas began his career with Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City and served in finance roles at United Healthcare Insurance, Intel Corporation and Scottsdale Healthcare prior to joining the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Thomas earned his MBA/HSA from the University of Utah and is a certified project management professional and fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Thomas is succeeding Kay Davis, EdD, who joined MU Health Care in 1988 as an assistant director of nursing and has served extensively in leadership roles including executive director of revenue cycle and care management, and most recently as interim and permanent CFO since September 2019.

“Kay has been a valuable member of the MUHC leadership team and has contributed so much to the organization” Chinniah said. “She plans to help Dustin with the transition, and I am deeply grateful to Kay for her willingness to support him as he joins our team.”
