Hockey
No. 11 Michigan Tech opened the postseason series with a sweep of St. Thomas. The Huskies shut out the Tommies 1-0 Friday and advanced to the CCHA Mason Cup semifinals with a 5-4 victory Saturday. Brett Thorne scored the lone goal Friday, and Blake Pietyla made 30 saves to get his 10th shutout of the season. Kyle Kukkonen and Tristan Ashbrook each scored twice Saturday, and Jack Wors also found the back of the net. Tech improved to 24-9-4 and will host Northern Michigan on Saturday at John McInnes Alumni Ice Arena. Tickets go on sale Monday at 8 p.m.

Women’s basketball
Michigan Tech earns a bye to the NCAA Tournament and will be the No. 4 seed by playing Midwest Region No. 5 Trevecca Nazarene in Ashland. As the second seed in the GLIAC Tournament during the week, Tech advanced to the GLIAC Tournament Championship with wins over Wayne State (80-71) and Ferris State (68-57). The Huskies fell to No. 5 in the title game on Sunday, 62-54. Isabella Lenz and Eli Mackay were named to the GLIAC All-Tournament Team.

Men’s basketball
The No. 8-seeded Huskies advanced to the GLIAC Tournament championship game with a 73-68 win at Parkside on Wednesday and a 73-69 semifinal win at Grand Valley State. Tech fell 79-66 to Northern Michigan on Sunday to end the season. Marcus Tomaszek and Dan Geretzger were named to the GLIAC All-Tournament Team. The Huskies have won 6 of their last 11 games as they finish the season 10-20 overall.

Nordic skiing
Michigan Tech travels to Lake Placid, New York this week for the NCAA Championship. The Huskies will compete in the freestyle on Thursday and the classic on Saturday.
